Stormy Daniels and Michael Avenatti said Friday they will be in the audience when President Donald Trump’s former longtime personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, gives his public testimony to Congress early next month.

“I am pleased to announce that @StormyDaniels and I will attend the congressional hearing when Cohen testifies,” Avenatti wrote on Twitter. “Which is only appropriate seeing as it would have never happened but for @StormyDaniels.”

Cohen has alleged that, when acting as Trump’s fixer during the 2016 campaign, he made a $130,000 hush money payment to Daniels to cover up a 2006 affair between the adult film star and Trump at the then-presidential nominee’s request.

Faced with accusations of a campaign finance violation, Trump has downplayed the payment, casting it as a civil, not criminal, matter.

Daniels, represented by Avenatti, had fought Cohen over the non-disclosure agreement surrounding the payment, signed in October 2016, before Cohen turned on the president and was convicted in August 2018 of tax fraud and lying to Congress.

Cohen was sentenced in December 2018 to three years in federal prison. He’s been ordered to surrender March 6.

Cohen will testify to the House Oversight Committee on Feb. 7, when the newly empowered House Democrats conduct a high-profile exercise in oversight of the Republican president.
