There are now almost 50 events being held up and down the country as Ireland celebrates its first Blockchain Ireland week. Blockchain Ireland is a voluntary professional organisation headed up by the IDA to explore blockchain application in Ireland. Blockchain, the transformation technology that underpins cryptocurrencies, is a publically distributed ledger.

ConsolFreight was founded in 2016 and operates in the freight forwarding industry. Its platform connects freight forwarders to reliable consolidators in specialised trade lanes, resulting in high-volume co-loading opportunities and considerable savings.

ConsolFreight is currently migrating its eForwarding platform onto blockchain, availing of the core features that make the technology so powerful for end to end monitoring of goods and payments.

Speaking at the event will be chief strategy officer for ConsolFreight Alejandro Gutierrez. Alejandro has an extensive career is supply chain management in the industry and consulting and international logistics expertise.

Alejandro says: “Blockchain is revolutionising the way we look at day to day operations, and international logistics is not an exception. In this session we will discuss how blockchain will impact the International Logistics industry in the short and long term, and what would be the ways for companies to start preparing for the challenges digital times will bring to companies.”

Also speaking will be Francisco Montenegro, a project manager with CargoX and business development manager with ConsolFreight.

A panel of guests will discuss the importance of blockchain to the international logistics industry – allowing it to leapfrog from paper-based systems to fully digitized platforms.
