Meghan Markle has an ally in George Clooney.
During a recent press event for his new series, “Catch-22,” the father of twins addressed how the pregnant Duchess of Sussex, 37, is being “vilified” by the media.
“I do want to say, they’re just chasing Meghan Markle everywhere, she’s been perused and vilified,” Clooney, 57, said, according to Australia’s WHO.
“She’s a woman who is seven months pregnant and she has been pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was and it’s history repeating itself,” the actor continued.
Prince Harry‘s mother, the late Princess Diana, died in a car crash in 1997 while being chased by the paparazzi in Paris.
“We ‘ve seen how that ends,” Clooney said.
The Oscar winner, who attended Meghan’s wedding to Harry, 34, with wife Amal Clooney last May, also spoke about the letter Meghan’s estranged father, Thomas Markle, recently shared with the press.
“I can’t tell you how frustrating that is, just seeing them broadcast a letter from a daughter to a father, she’s getting a raw deal there and I think it’s irresponsible and I’m surprised by that,” he said.
As for Meghan and Harry’s baby-to-be, Clooney confirmed he’s not in contention to be the godfather.
“I’m a father of twins, I have enough s–t to deal with — literally,” he quipped.
The Duke and Duchess are expecting their first child this spring.
