Internationally renowned Irish-owned global pitch specialists SIS Pitches has installed a new World Rugby Certified pitch at The High School, a secondary school in Rathgar, Dublin.
The rugby pitch was unveiled when the Leinster Rugby team held a training session on the school’s new pitch.
The new full-sized pitch is World Rugby Certified and provides excellent player comfort particularly for scrummaging and skin-to-surface interaction. It can be used by the school in all weathers.
The pitch is custom made with SIS Pitches SISTurf Rugger 60+ surface, which has been developed using the latest technology. SISTurf has also been installed at Donnybrook Stadium, a rugby union stadium.
The construction and installation – which included excavation work, drainage, fencing, floodlighting infrastructure, as well as goals and maintenance equipment –took 12 weeks to complete.
SIS Pitches Founder and CEO George Mullan said:
“We are very proud to be involved with the laying of pitches at a local and junior level and it was a pleasure to work with the High School on this project. We think having the opportunity to play on professionally-made pitches helps set young sports people up for a successful future in sport.
“We are particularly delighted to be here today to watch the Leinster Rugby team train on this world-class pitch, which will be a huge amenity for the school and the local community.
“Our pitches are manufactured in-house using the most advanced technologies and yarns, which we also use in the world’s largest stadiums across the globe. Every pitch no matter how small or large is custom made for each project.”
Andrew Forrest, Principal of The High School, Rathgar said:
“The High School has a long and proud tradition of playing rugby over its 150-year history. We are delighted with our new rugby pitch installed by SIS Pitches in 2018. The team from SIS Pitches, ably led by Mark Barry (Operations Director, Ireland), was excellent and the project was delivered on budget within a tight timeframe.“
SIS Pitches is a world leader in synthetic and natural sports surfacing and is one of the world’s largest sports pitch companies. SIS Pitches is an Irish-owned company, but its main work was international until it set up a new base in Ireland in 2017.
Since then, the company has built six soccer pitches that meet FIFA standards, two world rugby approved pitches, two hockey pitches and one full sized GAA approved pitch at schools across the country. At the same time, it is working on global projects such as designing, constructing and installing six of the 12 pitches which used at the 2018 Russia World Cup finals, including at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, which hosted the World Cup Final between France and Croatia.
Last year, SIS Pitches custom-made over half a million square metres of synthetic grass surfaces delivered exceptional sports surfaces for schools, colleges, universities, sports clubs and local authorities in Ireland and around the world.
